Bilibid Prison had been used by the Japanese as the processing centre for POW's in transit via the Hell Ships to Japan. The Far Eastern University, which has its frontage to Quezon Blvd., is at the top right.  Lerma Street,  runs north-east towards Espaņa Blvd., where the University of Santo Tomas was used to confine the civilian detainees. Bilibid, now named Manila City Jail, is still in use today,  and prisoners are still confined in conditions which would exasperate humanitarians.
